Rondo tweaked his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Friday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder after taking a charge on Royal Ivey. He was pulled from the game with 4:44 left.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers made the decision Sunday, electing to use caution with his point guard. Rivers also said that Rondo, who made the trip to Canada, might also miss Monday night's game in Atlanta.
Rivers elected to go with Nate Robinson as a starter Sunday in lieu of Delonte West, who finished Friday's game in Rondo's absence.
Sunday's game is the first Rondo has missed this season. In his four-plus seasons with the Celtics, he has missed only 13 games, including Sunday's. Ironically, the only game he missed all last season was against Toronto, due to a strained left hamstring.
