Michael Jordan & C. Barkley Questions LeBron's Move

Michael Jordan said Sunday that in his prime, he would not have done what LeBron James did by joining up with some of the other greats of his era on one team.

Carmelo Anthony & Michael Jordan share an photo-op.

"There's no way, in hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry (Bird), called up Magic (Johnson) and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,'" Jordan said during an interview on NBC after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada (photo right).

But, Jordan added, that was a different time and the NBA played a different type of game during his heyday.

"Things are different," Jordan said. "I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."

James left the Cleveland Cavaliers after seven seasons to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat. While many believe that move has elevated the Heat into the team to beat in 2010-11, others aren't quite so sure, particularly since James will have to share the ball much more with his new teammates than he did during his time with the Cavs.

Much like the Bulls were Jordan's team when he played, the Cavs were James' team. Now, he'll be part of a multi-star team that some believe will not be able to coexist and share points and minutes equally.

Jordan, who is now chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats, led the Chicago Bulls to six championships in the 1990s. James announced on July 8 in a nationally televised hour-long special that he was leaving Cleveland and "taking my talents to South Beach (Miami)."

In an interview last week on a Miami radio station, TNT analyst and former NBA star Charles Barkley criticized James' move to Miami.

"He'll never be Jordan," Barkley told radio station 790 The Ticket. "This clearly takes him out of the conversation. He can win as much as he wants to.

"There would have been something honorable about staying in Cleveland and trying to win it as 'The Man.' "

Barkley later added
"LeBron, if he would've (stayed) in Cleveland, and if he could've got a championship there, it would have been over the top for his legacy, just one (James' being the Cavs' big star) in Cleveland. No matter how many he wins in Miami, it clearly is Dwyane Wade's team."

Miami Lands A King

LeBron James put the NBA on notice Thursday night, joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

Ending weeks of silence and drama, the two-time MVP said on his ESPN special from Greenwich, Conn. on Thursday night that he's decided to join the Miami Heat and leave the Cleveland Cavaliers after an unsuccessful seven-year quest for the championship he covets.

LeBron James will sit down with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America on ABC (Friday, 7 a.m. ET) to discuss the ins and outs of one of the most-talked about free-agent decisions in NBA history.

"The best opportunity to win and to win now and to win in the future also," James said. "Winning is a huge thing for me."

It's a huge victory for the Heat, who got commitments from Wade and Bosh on Wednesday. That duo, along with James, formed the upper echelon of the most-celebrated free-agent period in league history.

James said the contract numbers for all three were not finalized, but all three agreed to take less money to play alongside each other.

Still, Heat president Pat Riley landed them all, a three-pack of stars to help shape his quest for a dynasty in Miami.

And for Cleveland, a city scorned for generations by some of sports' biggest letdowns, James' long-awaited words represented a defeat perhaps unlike any other.

James is gone. Home sweet home no more.

He said he made the decision Thursday morning and knows it won't go over well in Ohio.

"They can have mixed emotions, of course," James said, adding that Akron will "always be home for me."

The Cavs drafted James No. 1 overall in 2003 out of St. Vincent-St. Mary's High School in Akron, Ohio.

WTF of the DAY: LeBron being sued by man who claims...TO BE HIS DAD???

Well...well....OH FUCKERY WELL!! 24 hours into finding out one of the biggest mysteries of NBA history, hence what team LeBron is going to; we hear from a man who is suing LeBron...because he is the father? According to TMZ reports this man, by the name of Leicester Bryce Stovell is suing Lebron and his mother because he suspects they manipulated DNA results that would have proven that he was Lebron’s biological father.

Now according to him, he met LeBron's mother at a bar in 1984....they had unprotected sex the first night they met. He later found out she was 15, and pregnant! Mr. Stovell also claimed that Gloria (LeBron's mother) "shielded" his son away. HUH??? Here's a picture for you guys to take a look at any similarites for yourself!! :

Photobucket

                                                     OH, WHAT THE HECK??

Here's what the folks of TMZ mentioned of the suit in progress.

In his suit, Stovell claims he has a very clear recollection of the night he had “consensual sexual relations” with Gloria — in fact, he even remembers apologizing for his sub-par performance.

Leicester claims Gloria went back to her hometown in Ohio after they hooked up — but returned several months later to inform him she was pregnant with a boy named LeBron … but she never specifically identified the father.

Leicester — a self-proclaimed high school star athlete — says he remembers telling Gloria, “Well, if he’s mine, make sure he plays basketball.” He claims that was the last time he saw Gloria for more than 20 years.

According to the docs, Leicester claims he reconnected with Gloria over the phone in 2007 — when he began to think he could be LeBron’s father … partly because they look almost identical.

Leicester claims during the 2007 phone call — Gloria denied ever meeting him — threatened to have him physically harmed — and told him, “LeBron’s money is for his children.”

A few days after the phone call, Leicester claims LeBron — through his lawyer — agreed to take a DNA paternity test.
Leicester claims he was given results that showed he was not LeBron’s dad … but several months later, he began to suspect that the results were tampered with … and Gloria and LeBron were behind the fraud.
So why would LeBron participate in such a cover-up? Leicester claims it’s all, “due to anger at perceived abandonment and conflict arising from his image as a successful fatherless child from the projects.”
He also claims that Gloria had “fabricated” a story about LeBron’s real father for the “one dimensional commercial image-making purpose … to make [LeBron's] life suggestive of Spike Lee’s popular 1998 sports drama film, ‘He Got Game.’”
Leicester is now seeking $4 million from both LeBron and his mother — claiming fraud, defamation and misrepresentation.
And check this out — Leicester also points out that LeBron named his 2nd son “Bryce” — and claims it’s no coincidence. As we said, Leicester’s middle name is Bryce.

ONLY TIME WILL TELL OF THIS CONTINUING MADNESS!!! Between the scandal of Lebron’s mother allegedly sleeping with his teammate....and now this???
Mr. Stovell is suing James for 4 million?? (Did he forget to remember he just revealed to everyone he slept with a 15 yr old when he was 29??....IDK!!)

In other news, Lebron will be announcing his free-agent decision in a 60 minute special on ESPN tomorrow at 9pm. All advertising during the 1hour special will go to the proceeds of the Boys & Girls Club of America.

Lebron Is Still Considering Miami

With two of the big three free agents off the table, all eyes now turn to LeBron James. The star forward has revealed when he will announce where he'll play next season, but the deliberations in James' camp regarding where continue.

Amid a growing sense among rival executives that James intends to stay with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that James is still seriously considering joining forces with Wade and Bosh in Miami and had a discussion about the possibility that all three could wind up playing together for the Heat on a conference call at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

ESPN's Shelley Smith is also reporting that LeBron to Miami is a "strong possibility."

As we ended the sixth full day of free agency, multiple sources told ESPN.com that James is not expected to reveal his decision until his official announcement on ESPN on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.

The news comes after two days during which several teams around the league told ESPN.com that James was increasingly likely to re-sign with his hometown Cavaliers and that Wade and Bosh were on their way to the Heat.

Yet there was a growing sense late Tuesday that the Heat's hopes of landing all three All-Stars were being revived

Said one Eastern Conference official close to the situation, when asked to predict James' landing spot: "Cleveland … or in Miami with Wade and Bosh."

ESPN.com reported June 28 that the trio held a scaled-down version of the free-agent summit originally suggested by Wade to seriously discuss their futures, with a focus on the idea that all three could team up with the Heat. Sources close to the situation insist, though, that James has not promised anything to his Team USA colleagues and is not tipping off which way he's leaning.

Signing with Miami would pose its fair share of challenges. It would be difficult, but not impossible, for the Heat to make the numbers work. No one knows what the NBA's official salary cap will be until Wednesday night. Under virtually every scenario, the Heat lack the cap space to give each of the free agents maximum contracts. They could try to clear enough room by working out a trade that would send Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers to a team with cap space. However, even if the Heat completely evacuate the roster, they still would fall slightly short of being able to pay each player the max.

If the Heat can't clear the cap space, each player could sign for slightly less than the max and likely lose roughly $7 million on a five-year contract. That number could be adjusted based on the league's final cap numbers.

Alternately, the Heat can work with the Raptors and/or the Cavs to do sign-and-trades for Bosh or James. Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo has indicated that he's willing to talk sign-and-trade with the Heat but so far has balked at the idea of taking Beasley in any such deal. Cavs owner Daniel Gilbert has been steadfast that the Cavs won't participate in a sign-and-trade for James.

If the Heat cannot work out a sign-and-trade with the Raptors or Cavs, James and Bosh could each leave an additional $30 million on the table thanks to collective bargaining rules that allow their home teams to offer higher raises and a sixth year on their contracts.

Bosh in particular has been adamant that whatever deal he works out is a sign-and-trade.

Despite the obstacles, sources say that the trio are open to taking pay cuts to make the dream team happen if the Heat can't find ways to give them more money.

If the three end up together, it would be a partnership many years in the making.
