Dear Amile,
All of my life I have dated people of color and have always felt that the person I would marry would be a person of color. Last year I met a white guy that knocked me off my feet. I have fallen head over heals in love with this guy. I know that this is the man that I want to be with for the rest of my life. My family likes him but are strong believers in marrying within your race. I don’t want to disappoint my family but I also want to do what makes me happy. Am I wrong for wanting to spend the rest of my life with this man?

Hi Chocolate Swirl,
I feel that you are being a little hard on yourself for wanting to be with someone you love that is not in your race. Believe me, I mostly dated outside of my race, and coming from a Cuban family that does not EXACTLY go well with most. The stress-levels can sometimes be overwhelming.
But, if your family likes him already I can’t foresee them not liking him if you decide to marry him. There are lot of people that get married for the wrong reasons and simply neglect main reasons why two people should get married; which is because they love each other and make each other happy.
So if this is the person that makes you happy then go for it and everything else will fall into place.
Happy Endings,
AW
